Actor,
dancer, choreographer

Sadhwi Majumder is an Indian actor, dancer and choreographer with more than twenty years of training across Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, Odissi, folk and world dance forms.

Some performers collect stages. Sadhwi has collected whole evenings: the silence before the music, the moment a story lands in an audience that did not expect it, the walk home after a show that went better than rehearsed.

Her training began early and never really stopped. Recognised with a National Scholarship from the Government of India for Bharatanatyam, she went on to study Kathak, Manipuri and Odissi alongside folk and world dance, building a classical foundation that still anchors everything she choreographs.

Television introduced her to the country. As a performer on Dance India Dance and India's Best Dancer, she learned the discipline of live competition; she later returned to the latter as a choreographer for Seasons 2 and 4. Her choreography has been performed by some of Indian cinema's most beloved names, including Madhuri Dixit, Hema Malini and Richa Chadha, across Hindi and Marathi music videos and stage productions.

The international stage followed. As Paro in Devdas, an English-language Broadway-style production, she performed at Le Grand Rex in Paris and the Caudan Arts Theatre in Mauritius. As a soloist in Taj Express, she crossed North America and Canada on tour, appearing at the Peacock Theatre at Sadler's Wells in London and The Smith Center in Las Vegas, among more than a dozen venues.

On screen, she has acted and danced in the Telugu feature Shyam Singha Roy and the Sony TV series Sapnon Ki Chhalang. Her acting practice continues through training at the National School of Drama and under Saurabh Sachdeva (The Actor's Truth), supported by recitation and vocal training.

Recognition has followed quietly and consistently: over 450 awards across dance, poetry, painting and writing at regional, national and international level. What she values most, she says, is simpler: a full house that goes still at exactly the right moment.
